Dr. Theodore Vontetsianos MD, PhD, was born in Athens, Greece. He graduated the Athens Medical School and received his PhD degree from the University of Athens. He has been specialized in Pulmonary Medicine in Athens and sub-specialized in rehabilitation and outpatient care of chronic pulmonary patients in University of Colorado Health Science Center (1986-88). Since 1989, he has been serving as Consultant Pulmonary Physician in “Sotiria” Regional General Chest Diseases Hospital of Athens; since 1999 is the medical director of the e-health Unit of the Hospital and 1st RHA of Attica. He has over 200 publications in national and international scientific reviews, books (chapters), and conference presentations especially focused on chronic care management and integrated care.
He has been awarded by the Greek Government and European Commission for his R&D initiatives, as well as for his successful contribution to the EU projects he has been participating and coordinating since 2002. Since 2014 he is the coordinator of the Greek Network EIP on AHA (www.eiponaha.gr), the Greek branch of the major EU Initiative “European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing”.
